This image was made at sunrise in a 300 year old stand of Elwha river valley old growth. Damp rainforest firewood made for a smoky morning fire. While the coffee pot percolated the first sunrays peeked over the mountains, mixing with our smoke to split the forest canopy into a thousand beams of golden light. I made this 10 second exposure on my SLR and a moment later the scene vanished like an apparation.
