Portraits: Genesis Collection #1

The first of eight portraits in my Genesis Collection. One of my biggest challenges as a portrait painter was painting women. Since childhood, I had predominately drawn male figures and faces. when I started drawing academically I was in an all-boys school so female models were not available. Very quickly a comfort zone emerged early on in my artistic journey. All attempts at capturing feminity up until this portrait I consider failures. After over a decade of trying I finally had success.
