Finding Comfort

“Finding Comfort” is a piece I created after escaping an abusive relationship which left me depressed. I looked for comfort in the familiar: family. I painted my hand, my mother’s hand, and her mother’s hand all reaching towards the North Star. For us, that means reaching towards each other. Like my mother and grandmother, my North Star is family. In times of darkness, I find comfort in my family and the universe, knowing that we are all connected.
