H.R. Giger refused trauma therapy in order to preserve his nightmarish visions, and I’ve always wondered what would have happened had he said yes. So I started exploring his dark biomechanical style as if juiced up by the wonder-sauce of Lisa Frank’s neon dreamscapes — pointing directly into the paradox and ambiguity, promise and peril of our own transcendent biotechnological future. A tribute to Giger’s xenomorph, and a pun for my fellow LGBTQi allies and out-of-the-closet crypto enthusiasts.
