Ponte City

This is a digitally manipulated photograph of the core of ‘Ponte City’ - the tallest residential building in Africa - an amazing and also terrifying piece of dystopian architecture. Used as a location to film “District 9”, “Chappie” and “Resident Evil”. By the 1990s, many gangs moved into the building and it became extremely unsafe - а symbolic of crime and urban decay. The core filled with debris 14 floors high. There were even proposals to turn the building into a high-rise prison!
