More than 10 years ago I met this "watchdog" who had leishmaniasis. He was chained to a stone hut in a farm, frightened and in desperate need of some love, which I tried to give him during our brief encounter, but sadly he did not trust me close enough to comfort him.
In these rural areas animals are still considered tools and at that time there were no laws to protect them from such repulsive treatment. Entering a property to take him and find him a loving home would have been a suicide mission and there was nothing I could do about it, so I snapped a photograph and took this sad memory home.
Today both the dog and the owner live in another plane of existence.
Animals have feelings, just like humans, and if you would not do that to a human, why would you do it to an animal?
