CRATER WALK

I had a vision for this piece for quite some time but could never find the right location to execute it.

After lengthy research, I decided I would need to hike one of Bali's active volcanos to capture the image I envisioned.

3:30am alarm goes off, I look up into the sky and see only cloud. The temptation of calling my guide and cancelling grew stronger and stronger, but I wasn't sure when I'd have this opportunity again so off I went.

After a punishing hike battling broken English with my friendly guide, we made it to the rim of the volcanic crater.

A small shack as seen in the photo brewed delicious Balinese coffee, naturally I couldn't resist.

My guide came in from outside and said 'sun is here'. As I stepped outside, the rain had stopped, the skies cleared, and the glowing sun lit up the scene in front of me.

The image I envisioned came together within seconds as a lone hiker walked along the rim of the crater right in front of my eyes, completing my remarkable morning.
