JALOUSIE #106 FROM ANALOG TO DIGITAL AND BACK AGAIN (Arvida Byström & Alec Soth) 2020, Collage, Diptych, 3000 × 1504 px

Stefan Mildenberger started the ongoing collage series JALOUSIE in 2010 during his studies at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg/Germany. By now it contains more than 130 collage combinations. This series is made of various celebrity-photographs, acquired by time-consuming internet research. One female and one male connoted figure in matching poses, coming from pop, art, politics, sport or church and with a similar historical and social background, are selected and placed above one another. The images are then sliced into thin horizontal strips resembling a jalousie. The entirety of the sliced original images is used to create two collages, embodying each figure to 50%. The two resulting collages are 100% different. The collages are presented next to each other as a diptych.
