For centuries rivers and canals have been part of the social and economic fabric of Thailand as means of transportation, water sources for agriculture and domestic consumption, and as sites for cultural celebrations. Traditionally, floating markets served as central places for trade and exchange of agricultural products in Thailand.
Amphawa is possibly my favorite of all the markets in the neighbors of Bangkok, as it's very traditional and still authentic with wooden houses built along the riverbanks to make it easier to transport products by boat.
I've visited Amphawa multiple times but only for a few days of the year the sun sets perfectly in line with the canal, making up a dreamy scenery.
