A piece dedicated to the late MF DOOM that I started 4 days prior to his passing. This was inspired by MF DOOM's album cover for MM...FOOD.
When I was first thinking of this piece, it was going to portray DOOM’s laid-back nature. Originally, the aura of the piece showed DOOM’s personality by having him in a recliner chair and sleeping while watching TV. 4 days later, the world had learned of his passing and I was crushed. I have created DOOM pieces before this one due to my appreciation of his mysterious aesthetic, but now this drawing that I had made carried a whole new meaning. Now him being asleep stood as an allegory for his death rather than his peaceful demeanor.
Those of which we lay to rest never die as long as our memory of them stays alive. DOOM’s passing saddened me but the impact and effect he had on the world with his dozens of projects, along with his family is what will keep his memory alive.
