It was the week between Christmas and New year. Our camp was on an area of soft moss, on Strathy Point, just a few metres from the cliff edge that overlooked the North Atlantic ocean. When we pitched our tent, the weather was soft, fine and somewhat mild for that time of year. We quickly and excitedly set off along the coast path with our trusty field cameras on our shoulders, in the hope of capturing some dramatic seascapes. As we worked hard that day, we didn’t notice the wind changing direction. It was now blowing hard and cold from the north. As we trudged back to our camp in the winter dusk, we found ourselves suddenly enveloped by a blizzard, a complete white out. That night as we lay in our small tent, wet and cold, we were pounded relentlessly by the unforeseen, monster storm. The sound of the wind and waves together, was deafening. The storm finally broke the next afternoon and that’s when I took the opportunity to make this plate entitled 'The Storm Breaks Over Strathy'. PM
