We all have a why, here’s a story about mine…
I made a last-minute decision to drive from Portland up to the North Cascades after seeing snow in the forecast at this location. I drove up the night before and got a few hours of sleep in the trailhead parking lot.
Hiking up at 5am everything was clouded over, and it looked like there was no chance I’d get a view. Just as the sun was rising the clouds started to burn off, and everything began to line up perfectly.
The perfect convergence between the fall colors and the freshly snow-covered landscape. I was standing there in the untouched snow, and I was absolutely over the moon!
The rush of making a last-minute decision to chase something amazing, persevering even when it seemed like it wouldn't work out, and then getting to experience something so unique made me feel so alive!
This feeling has become part of my identity. Every part of me wants to chase these moments. This is my why, why I create the work I do. This is my genesis.
