I was on a Wicked Hunt to explore ice caves when I passed Vermillion Lake & saw the day getting bright.
I had a gut feeling that it would light up the sky & I couldn't pass the opportunity.
Cold and windy, I put on my skate, picked up all of my gears & with my limited skills, I started to explore the lake.
It took me some time to find exciting foreground with Mt Rundle in the background.
One of my favourite times of the year is when autumn transitions to winter.
During this time of the year, the water froze for the first time & the Ice is crystal clear.
As it progresses, the warm & the cold temperature shifts begin to melt and re-freeze the lake.
That's when you get to see interesting textures like this on the Ice.
It's true that sometimes you have to be at the right place and at the right time, but you also need to increase the chance by going out there even if the day looks gloomy and does not have much potential.
If you don't go, you'll never know.
