I grew up in the middle of the Pacific in one of the most geographically isolated places on the planet and have spent much of my adult life trying to balance my deep affinity and craving for open space and wild nature with a desire for urban life and the accessibility it offers.
The Lands End area surrounding the ruins of Sutro Baths was my safe haven during the decade I lived in San Francisco. I found solace looking out over the Pacific in the direction of my childhood home, watching pelicans and seagulls swoop overhead while the fog rolled in. It was there that I discovered the magic of California’s golden sunsets and rugged coastline.
