What does it feel like to ride a motorcycle to the end of the world during a global pandemic?
I shot this photo during the Covid Pandemic when most of the world was on lockdown. I was fortunate and lucky enough to be riding the Karakoram Highway under a backdrop of towering misty peaks just as the borderlands between China and Pakistan were coming out of winter - at the time feeling very far away from the crisis being felt around the world while still feeling connected to it in some weird way.
This image shares the isolation and vulnerability felt by a majority of the world’s population at the time, while rejecting the notion that Covid denied individual moments of joy and adventure. The waves on the road take the image into the realm of the absurd - the ocean of highway - which also says a lot about life during the Pandemic; pretty absurd on many levels.
