Remote and not so easily accessible Toroweap (Tuweep) Point on the North Rim of the Gran Canyon in Arizona, USA, is possibly the most stunning lookout in the National Park, with a vertical drop over Colorado River of 3000 feet (910 m).
A special place for me, reached after a long trip and days spent in Page, AZ, waiting for decent weather (the long dirt road to the point is otherwise inaccessbile a car tow service costs 1500$ !).
When I eventually got there in the late afternoon, I spent a night spent alone on the rim, camping in my 4WD under a galaxy of stars.
The following morning at the crack of dawn I was on the dropoff (not for those remotely suffering from vertigo!) and I witnessed this spectacular sunrise with the canyon walls glowing red from the light. Truly unforgettable. Self portrait.
