Ordinances and Angels II

Ordinances and Angels II (2021) is a re-envisioning of Ruth Gonsalves Moore’s photographic body of work ‘Ordinances and Angels’ with sound by the composer and musician Úna Keane.

The original making intent was to ‘look again’ at female form and decorum and engage with 'beliefs' informing worship practice and in so doing address a gendered representational gap. Ordinances and Angels II is conceptually an extension of an idea present within the original 2014 work with Úna Keane composing piano-driven, rhythmical synced soundscapes evocative of the celestial.

O&A II incorporates new images with 12 images from the original work including the collected Untitled#02, awarded the RDS Taylor Art Award. Print works have exhibited internationally.

O&A I & II : Made as part of the Galleries With(out) Walls artist collaboration/development initiative by the Gallery of Photography (Ireland) with the Regional Cultural Centre (Ireland) (and partners).
