Pier Pressure

Growing up, I always wanted to impress my parents. They have been the absolute best role models I could have ever asked for and have given me the world, but how do I live up to that?

The constant pressure to succeed in everything I do has always been present.

This spot, in Erieau, Canada is a short drive from the home I grew up in. I would visit this pier frequently and each experience felt as if I was seeing the pier for the first time. I would sit and observe how the pier handled the pressure of the water that surrounds it. It would often be met with rough and relentless waves, but the other times, the water and the pier coexisted in perfect harmony.

I have shared moments of both sadness and gratitude with this pier, but the one thing that has stuck with me, is that no matter the amount of pressure, the pier has remained resilient through it all.

Over the years, this pier has taught me a lot on how to handle the pressure I feel.
