I have always thought about portraiture as an image that captures the essence of a person in that particular moment in time. For years I have paid close attention to a subjects hands as I feel they can tell you just as much if not more about a person than looking in their eyes.
Hands can tell a story about a person's journey and we are all a reflection our collective journeys. As human beings we have to learn about one another, our experiences, and our journey's -- through that we can develop a greater sense of empathy and heal our collective wounds as a society. (My Life Story: Hands) aims to dissect the human story and the life story of each subject in a non traditional approach to portraiture.
Hands 001 is the first piece of this collection and is such a powerful igniter.
There is so much in his hands the speak to his journey--what do your hands say about you?
