"Invitation to Connect" explores the most rudimentary form of connection. As infants, receiving an invitation to connect with another person is all that we have. As adults, however, this simple act becomes far more complicated in its implications.
It can be read as a gesture of intimacy and interest toward someone else - 'I want to know you'. It could also imply an unconscious agreement to change oneself as a means of 'gaining access'.
We skate the Möbius strip of life, invitations to connect are frequently delivered. We come to understand its receipt as our code to survive in the world. The rise of collective consciousness, a beautiful idea of sharing a common memory.
The viewer is not privy to any information besides what’s inferred from the appearance of another. The artwork themes relate to trust, danger, race, gender, difference, and indifference.
Can we ever truly connect?
