BBC - The Sikh who cracks turban jokes to fight stereotypes
Sikhs bore the brunt of hate crimes following 9/11 with physical attacks (at times fatal) and racial profiling. I wanted to raise awareness about Sikhs using humor.
This artwork has been 15 years in the making, inspired by personal experiences as a Sikh living across the world. Each of the 533 frames was hand illustrated on a computer and took 4 hours on average to create. In other words, a whopping 2132 hours of my time for this artwork. Not to speak of the time taken to conceptualise each.
Over the years SikhPark has found an active and engaged fan following around the world and has featured in several publications including BBC, FHM, Huff Post, Mashable and major Indian News Papers. I was also twice at Comic Con India.
SikhPark has a following of 30K on FaceBook and 15K on Instagram.
In the future I plan to make a webseries with SikhPark characters.
