I am Gabriel George. Canada-based visual artist. Born and raised in Kerala, India. I am here to showcase one of my recent works which is an inspiration from Indian temple mural art. Coming to Kerala mural paintings, they are the frescos depicting Hindu mythology. Ancient temples and palaces in India, explain well the tradition of mural paintings. The majority of them are dating back between the 9th - 12th centuries. Almost all of these mural arts enjoyed royal patronage and are still preserved in many temples all over Kerala.
Here, my painting depicts Lord Krishan and his beloved Radha. In fact, the love story of Radha and Krishna is counted as one of the famous love stories during the times of Gods. The scene I choose to draw is called Rasa Leela. This work is a combination of pointillism and lines. The majority of the painting portrays pointillism and it’s a mix of primary and contemporary colors and their values.
