A busted chase. I drove to The Grand Canyon and around that area all day. Nothing. I looped around and drove to the other side and found a dust storm trying to form. By nightfall, I was beat. As I drove down the highway, I noticed the full moon shining bright over a distant storm. I wanted a lightning bolt with the moon, so I decided to stop and hang out on the entrance to the Wupatki National Monument. The storm was strengthening and heading towards me. With great joy, I went into chase mode and started to setup my cameras pointing towards the downbursts not too far away. And just like that, a few Cloud to Ground bolts (CGs) dropped in a spectacular fashion on the edge of the storm. This was the shot I wanted from this trip to Arizona and if I could have done a flip, I would have done one out of joy.
