On a quiet winter day on the island of Ærø, the world settles into a kind of held breath. The trees along the flooded meadow stand bare and unadorned, their branches mirrored clearly in the still water below. In this double landscape - above and below, real and reflected - time feels suspended. The muted palette of winter softens the horizon, blurring the boundary between land and sky, presence and memory.
Here, stillness becomes a form of expression. The reflection - a second, shadowlike world - echoes my ongoing fascination with the in-between: moments that exist not in full light, but in the gentle diffusions of winter, fog, and dusk. The scene invites a slower gaze, an attunement to what is often overlooked.
It is in these quiet, unassuming moments that I find the emotional and poetic undercurrents that continue to guide my work: the landscape as a vessel for introspection, the ephemeral as a point of connection, and the winter light as a quiet keeper of stories.
