Since the Edo period, Fukujusou has been cherished by the Japanese as a lucky flower that celebrates the start of the new year. It is a very auspicious flower, as the kanji characters for fortune and longevity are in its name. In warmer regions, it begins to bloom after Setsubun in early February. Around noon on a sunny, warm day, when I was looking for a flower, a golden flower stopped me, telling me that I was here. Called by that voice, Fukujusou sings in light harmony the joy of the arrival of spring. Finding Fukujusou flowers warmed my heart with the joy of spring. Spring is just around the corner.
