Wishing You Were Here

Inspired by old postcards I collect, seeing vacation scenes with text, 'Wishing You Were Here" caught my attention. The original is a b x w photo I took of a swimming pool in Miami, from hotel room. Later, I pondered through my shots and this stood out. But, it needed a 'life', so I did a photo touch-up, uploaded it to my computer. I kept off & on trying dynamic colours, as I recall, taking away details until shapes were minimal enough to find the right bold colours in flat forms, to subtle textures in top shaded area, as well as swimming pool. The artwork is whimsical, as I used all arbitrary colours, purposely, [natural would've been dull], thus creating a vibrant image. I'd like viewers to see ordinary subject matter, as here, as an artistic statement on an aspect of our human lifestyle, as the swimming pool being one 'icon' of modern decadence.
