Legacy: Birth of the Universe

Part of my single edition "Legacy" series, this was a very challenging piece for me given the amount of detail, editing, and compositing I had to do to make it work. Since this was made in 2011, it was before I got into 3D. This image is made entirely in vector and was a memory intensive piece by the time I completed it.

The idea of creating a peacock character was originally inspired by a tattoo of a girl I met about a couple years before 2011. I was fascinated and at the same time mesmerized by its beauty. About a year later I thought it would be nice to do an illustration but at the time I was definitely not ready until later.

What I loved about the peacock was that it represented the ideals of power, mysticism, and the divine, which was perfect for an illustration, and part of my deep interest in animals. Upon completing it, this convinced me this was a huge turning-point in my art.
