"The Apparition"

In my belief system, I believe that true reality is spiritual while finite existence is unreal to beings on higher levels of reality. With the passing of my wife, Jane Timm Baxter, this year I wanted to create a work of art illustrating that possibility. At her death, she becomes a little more real in her journey while I who remain am more unreal, therefore, it is I who become the apparition instead of her. This piece started out as a portrait of both of us. In Photoshop, I manipulated the image also using software from Topaz, onOne, and Pixelbender to create what is seen here.
