We all have many masks that we put on, sometimes it’s to hide our true self, sometimes it’s to play a role or be someone else, even if for a brief moment. When we peel away the masks that we hide behind and distract ourselves with, we are left with our authentic self.
This piece is a self portrait representing the masks I’ve hid behind in my past and symbolizes my transformation and 11 year journey with sobriety, weight loss and finding my way as an artist and leader.
In loving memory, this piece includes an image created by my dear friend Jeff Massman who had many masks of his own , and his mural of roots inspired me to create this to honor him and his art.
*The final image is of a painting that was custom created for me by my friend Frankie Curran
