An artwork visualized based on a real dream image. From an image stuck to mind after a lucid dream, it was an artistic effort to make that distinct memory alive again.
Story -
"Everything is vivid, exceptionally lucid. I look around, I am in a small dark wooden cabin, carving something. The walls are dark, the floor is soft from old shavings. It feels like a den, it’s damp but comforting. Old furniture and rusted tools are scattered everywhere. Distracted. I am having a hard time focusing, my vision is blurred. I am carving, a toy?
There is laughter outside, a beautiful small child, a girl. She has blazing yellow-green eyes. Like the fire of a star. I am carving this for her. Creating for her.
Suddenly, a cacophony rises outside. It unnerves me, sends me into a spin. I see people running, I worry for the girl with the blazing eyes, she is nowhere to be seen. The chaos turns into pandemonium, people are screaming. I put my tools down, leaving the figurine that I have been carving on a stool.
Jaw clenched, eyes blazing, I rush out into the light."
And that's when I woke up. It was a weird and unique experience to try to recreate a frame I saw in a dream. Something to summarise that whole lucid experience that gave out that feeling of that void in the scene. Something which 'left behind' has an unforgettable value.
