Ruins of the Past
”Perhaps just forgotten voices, yet still affecting your daily choices.
Though they’re just old remains, they’re still keeping you in self-made chains.
Shedding Light on these, will bring your Life to ease.”
From our childhood till this point we have been taught and learned a lot of things. What is good, what is bad, what is right, what is wrong, what’s true, what’s fairytale. We have formed likes and dislikes according to our experiences, enjoyable ones and perhaps more traumatic ones too.
Consider all of these things as structures we build around us, starting from our childhood. Each structure defines how we perceive Life. They’re like filters that we put between ourselves and everything else.
There’s nothing bad in these structures per se. It’s just that they are affecting to every moment of our lives unconsciously, even the childhood traumas that we have forgotten from our conscious memory. Especially those. They’re like forgotten ruins but definitely still there, defining how we feel about ourselves and the world around us.
As a child everything felt so alive and new because you hadn’t built so many structures around You yet.
As we start to spend more time in stillness and turn our awareness within, it’s like shedding the light of our consciousness onto these structures, which will help us to see them and let go of the unnecessary ruins that we don't need anymore. This is the point of meditation.
The less dense structures, the lighter and brighter our experience of Life is.
