Queen of heaven and queen of the Gods. In ancient Roman culture Juno represents the female principle of life and she had her own dedicated temple as early as the 4th century B.C. Daughter of Saturn, twin sister and wife of Jupiter, mother of Mars, Juno was considered the protector of the Roman state. In Roman times each woman was said to have a Juno: a guiding principle or protective spirit, the counterpart of the genius that guarded man.
