Castlefield Stairs

I was walking back home through the Castlefield area of Manchester one evening when there was a filmic quality to the light as a freezing fog had set in. I'd photographed these stairs during the day before, but tonight I knew I had to capture this image.

Having dashed home I came straight back out with my camera and tripod and braved the freezing conditions to capture this scene. The backlight, combined with the freezing fog, give the image a really eerie, mysterious feel. Someone on Twitter said it reminded them of a scene from Alien!!
