Salford Sunset

I'd been attending a weekend darkroom course in Salford and upon leaving one evening I noticed a number of new buildings in this area that I hadn't been to for some time, so I decided to return one evening when the skies were clear. One evening after work I ventured down to this area and the first thing that caught my eye were these balconies and how they were illuminated by the setting sun. The minimal composition and the complimentary colours in the sky and on the building, really pull the whole image together.

This image went on to be named the winner of the architecture category, and overall winner of the 2017 Elements of Design photography competition that was run by PicFair, ICON Magazine and the London Design Museum. It has also been used by the buildings architects BDP, on the cover of their client brochure which was sent out globally!
