V.I.T.R.I.O.L.

The painting is inspired by the Alchemical term V.I.T.R.I.O.L. which is a Latin acronym meaning “Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem,” translated into “Visit the interior of the earth and rectifying (purifying) you will find the hidden stone.” In Alchemy, the motto refers to a process of internal, spiritual purification. The seven-letter acronym VITRIOL is an actual form of sulfuric acid. It is considered a core medium of alteration and is seen as the symbolic Secret Fire that guides us towards spiritual excellence. Is not only about transformation of the matter, but mostly a processing of a spiritual and inner transformation.
