A synonym of synthwave that was later used to refer more generally to retro 1980s aesthetics such as VHS tracking artifacts, magenta neon, and gridlines. That is how Wikipedia describes "Outrun".

For me it's much darker than that. Outrunning someone, something, or even running out of something... or someone. Especially this year, in which lack of control and loss in general have been dominating the world.

If 2005's Neo-noir movie 'Sin City' hadn't been 'noir' this could have been its poster. Blue vs. Red, harsh cold vs. all consuming fire.

The year is 2020 and we're just trying to get back to more carefree days.
