This melancholic piece was something I created during my grandmother's first stroke in 2017. I remember thinking about how growing up I would have frequent bad nightmares. I would go to her because she would be up late watching Twilight Zone or Star Trek. She'd comfort me and talk to me about what I was so afraid of or cry with me if I was going through something difficult. We would stay up or she would make for me chamomile tea and put me to bed.
It still felt like those times while I was waiting in the hospital but she slept most nights. I'm not afraid of hospitals but the atmosphere was foreboding and suffocating. To deal with those feelings I imagined it feeling more like camping in companionable silence during a difficult time.
