This piece represents a transformation in myself during a particular time of my life. This section of the face was chosen to express a traumatic experience that involved a situation where I ended up having a portion of my face crushed. A large portion of my mid-face had to be reconstructed along with my nose. The initial result left my face distorted and difficult to accept. The mirror became a fear but over the course of the healing period, features began to resemble normality, however, the features of my face never returned 100% normal. This became a large hurdle of acceptance.
