Absence of Field

I love Westworld. This painting represents a somewhat modified version of my favorite shot from season 3 trailer. I am always amazed at their level of details and visual language utilization. In this shot , for example, Charlotte and the Riot Control robot are the only ones in black and red color combination, symbolizing that they are the same. I removed other humans from the shot to further emphasize that idea and I also wanted to have the two surrounded by this beautiful man-made architecture (real world location: City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain) but have a clear contrast between the cold colors of the buildings and dark red (like blood?) of the two man-made objects in the shot who represent a new species, coming alive. Title of the painting is the title of the episode itself. If you’re interested google it, there’s a spin on identity in there as well which is why I enjoy Westworld so much.
