This painting was inspired by the wild wintry weather that hit Edinburgh in March 2018, covering the city and the hills in a thick blanket of snow and ice. Myself and many others were caught out in the middle of it having visited the pub. I wanted to try and recreate the feeling of getting whipped in the face by lashings of thick snow and the chilling wind that accompanied it, but in a more solitary setting. This is purely done in Photoshop using a very simple geometric base and using a plethora of hard brushes to define shapes and edges of the cliffside, and soft brushes for consolidating lost edges and for the warmer, softer light coming from the lamp.
