This image originated as two distinct original digital photographs. They were combined using a neural style transfer. More details and colors were added digitally.

The experimentation with neural style transfer allows for new forms to appear which can then be emphasized or altered depending on the intended message or goal of the work.

This creates an additional serendipitous moment in the creation of the work that is intertwined with technology and artificial intelligence.

However, I've found that neural style transfer only goes so far. While the images that can be created purely with NST as a tool are incredible, they do not feel like a final creation. So I always spend more time with the image to add patterns, colors, and adjust/change the composition.
