Queen Idia

Queen Idia is part of the series 'Oyibo Juju'–a re-imagination of old African art and how it can be presented to a younger audience in a modern and colorful way. This piece pays homage to the original bronze head of Queen Idia; the first 'Iyoba' of Benin Kingdom, who was instrumental in her son 'Esigie' becoming Oba of Benin (1504 to 1550).
