Landscape Photography: Giants Pt. 1

Giants Pt. 1 of 2-

Forest photography is one of the most challenging and rewarding forms of landscape/nature photography. I have shot in the Redwoods about 20 times now and only ever came away with around 6 images in total. Creating order in the chaos is a task that never really becomes easier over time. Creating that order is so dependent on the conditions. Using the deep shadowing and bright highlights, I was able to create a simple composition in one of the most chaotic forests I had ever photographed.

But the challenge is what keeps me coming back over and over again. The feeling of spending hours, days, months, chasing a single good image and finally getting it is a feeling that I cannot resist.
