Last month, I published my monthly edition as usual. It was the day after I had read that cancer had returned on my medical portal. The next day I told my husband, and we sobbed for hours. It was the worst day of my life. I went on autopilot.
Now, with chemo starting three weeks ago, time is no longer mine, and my perspective on life has changed. Despite never knowing my future, I have always lived as I wanted. No regrets.
I'll keep working on my monthly editions, enjoying the process of curating from my 1990s male erotica archives.
As a queer elder, being HIV+ since 1987 at 27 years, I never expected to live beyond 2000, let alone getting to the age of 62. I am a bit of a miracle and plan to continue to defy odds.
Photography is all about storytelling, and I hope to share my stories with authenticity and even greater vulnerability than ever.
