Kunst: Our Mothers Wore Light Like This

a fine art photograph by tobydphotographer

This work is a quiet tribute to the women who raised us our mothers, aunties, grandmothers, and the ones before them. Women who carried so much, yet walked with grace. Women who wore strength like clothing, and let love shine through their silence.

In this image, the woman is not just herself. She stands for many for the hands that cooked, cleaned, prayed, and held families together. The fabrics she wears are full of memory. They remind us of home, of tradition, of stories passed down without words.

The lighting is soft, like sunlight coming through a window. It touches her face, her wrap, her skin just enough to show her strength without making her loud. That’s what this title means: Our Mothers Wore Light Like This they didn’t chase attention, but they carried something bright and deep inside them. Something sacred.

This series is about honoring them. Showing that they are art. That they matter. That even in stillness, they are powerful.
