Stung by an Asian Hornet originates from memories of traveling through tropical landscapes in Asia, where rivers, dense vegetation, and unfamiliar textures shaped my perception of place. Rather than documenting these environments, the work translates them into a raw, abstract, and intensely chromatic visual language. Inspired by the music of Ninajirachi, it explores sensation over representation.
As the composition evolved, I found that even its most synthetic textures began to echo natural forms. The work ultimately reflects on the idea that technology, however complex or unfamiliar, remains an extension of nature rather than its opposite.
