After the Deferral is a digital artwork composed of layered textures derived from historical paintings. It explores digital gothic aesthetics and symbolic pattern formation as expressions of the residual effects of a profound emotional event. Memory is understood as something embedded within the body and gradually fading over time. Inspired by melancholic bass music, the work reflects on transience, grief, and remembrance through the metaphor of a flattened cathedral cast into metal. It considers melancholic bass music as a contemporary site of mourning and contemplation, suggesting the emergence of new forms of ritual and spirituality through creative media.
