We believe that we are the very first wildlife filmmakers to find, document and film these extremely unusual colour morphs of Porpita. When first we came upon them, we thought they must be dead or dying individuals that had somehow lost their symbiotic algal companions. We came upon them during more than one filming expedition to the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. As soon as we began to study the morphs, we realised that they were fully alive and kicking and in no way weaker than their blue cousins. All fared equally well and all were seen to feed efficiently.
