“Waktu berlari meninggalkan mimpi-mimpi mu Waktu perlahan menghilang dalam senyap Waktu memunggungimu ketika lelap Waktu adalah kamu
Waktu adalah kamu Yang memunggungimu ketika lelap Yang perlahan menghilang dalam senyap Yang berlari meninggalkan mimpi-mimpi mu”
Poetry in Indonesian, above. Is about how we often think if “time” is hostile to us. Moving too fast or never feeling enough. But time will always be like that, unchanged, diminished, or increased.
I remember when I was first exposed to the figure of Alotta Money through Trevor Jones, I was interested in his works and the things that inspired him. There is an urge to at least try to get to know him more closely, but I always procrastinate to start (at least through the DM). Until in the end, Alotta Money left us all, allowing us to remember him through the traces he left behind. When in the middle of the process of working on this work, my father passed away. And I know, I am too often reluctant to call him first or go to visit him (we live in different cities). Everything that feels less important the first time, becomes a big deal after he leaves me forever.
I, you, we, will always miss things. And this is a classic story in the history of the journey of human life, which will always repeat itself. With so many things coming into our lives, the best thing we can, perhaps the ability to curate it with full awareness.
It's impossible to go back in time and fix it, all I can do is move forward and be happy with the opportunities I have taken. That's what I learned from Alotta Money and my father.
