There are so many things Patron Saint of Motherhood says to you. She says it through the 2am hugs, the tear stained shoulders, the milk vomit down your back, the real gastro vomit in your bed. She says it through your child being a model citizen for everyone else, but you walk in to the room and they lose the plot: tears flow, voices whine, screaming starts, you most likely cop a fist to the tit and what dear god WHAT is this Patron Saint of Motherhood trying to say to me?! She’s saying that you are a safe house, that your children know if they kick and scream and cry because the world is overwhelming and figuring it out is tiring, that you will still love them, because you are Home. Especially on the days when you blink away tears in the super market aisle with a baby on your hip and a screaming child in the trolley, Patron Saint of Motherhood guides you to the checkout, buys you a bottle of nice wine, orders in take out and says “Fuck you’re doing an amazing job”
